NEW GLASGOW - Norma Basque, 60 of 26 Kestrel Ridge, New Glasgow, died Friday, July 20, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Born in Dieppe, NB, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Exelda (Robichaud) Poirier. Originally from Dieppe, NB, Norma resided in New Glasgow since 1970 where she graduated from the Community College in the Mature Student Program before accepting a position with Fred C. Morrison in New Glasgow where she worked for many years until 1995. She is survived by her husband, Allie, New Glasgow; a daughter, Nadine Basque, New Glasgow; granddaughters, Danielle Mason and Celine Mason, New Glasgow; sisters, Pauline (Frank) Decarlo, Bobcaygeon, ON; Simone Poirier, Calgary, Alberta; a brother, Gerald (Jeannine) Poirier, Moncton, NB; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. Cremation to take place. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2 p.m. Monday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home chapel, New Glasgow, with Father Charles Cameron officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. By request of the family, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Norma may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation, the MS Society or to a charity of one's choice.
