STELLARTON - Oliver "Gordon" Cameron, 84, Kensington Ave., Stellarton, passed away suddenly in the Aberdeen Hospital, Tuesday, October 9, 2007. Born in Elgin, Pictou Co., he was a son of the late Margaret Crockett (Cameron) and the late Willard Cameron. He was employed with the C.N.R. for forty-three years, retiring 28 years ago. He was the oldest member of Scotia Lodge No. 11, Westville, also Cushing Encampment No. 10, Westville. He was a member of Western Star Masonic Lodge, Westville, where he received his 55-year Bar. Also a member of Pictou County Shriners and the Scottish Rite. Gordon was a member of Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton, where he was an Elder and on the Board of Trustees. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Jean; daughter, Violet, Halifax; son, Willard (Shelley), and granddaughter, Lana Jean, of Halifax; sisters, Lois Lynds, Halifax; Jean (Gerry) Horne, Lorne; brothers, Donald (Mae), Stellarton; Bill (Shirley), PEI; sister-in-law, Dee, California. He was predeceased by a brother, James (California); step-sisters, Allena Kennedy, Doris Munro; step-brothers, Bruce and Edmund Crockett. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton, with Rev. John Roy officiating. Reception will follow in the church hall immediately after the funeral service. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
