Passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 21, 2010, Robert J. Smith of Norman’s Cove, age 86 years. Predeceased by his parents John and Caroline, first wife Rebecca, second wife Marina and infant daughter Suzie, granddaughter Melanie, brothers: Malcolm and Llewelyn, sisters: Lizzie, Lucy, Carrie and Irene; brothers-in-law: Robert, William, Stanley, Clayton and Sam; sisters-in-law: Gladys, Amy, Alfreda and Marion. Leaving to mourn ten children: Sylvia (Hayward), Morgan (Terri), Lillian (Alfred), Mavis (Bernard), Beulah (Adrian), George (Sandra), Stanley (Sandy), Darlene (Bill), Nancy (Bill) and Darrin (Marlene); stepchildren: Joan (Joe), David (Katherin); twenty-four grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Dorcas, Hazel and Julie. Robert (Uncle Bobby) was a devoted Christian, a long time member and layreader of Bethel United Church, a pillar of strength for his family and the community in which he served. Thank you to the staff at Chancelor Park for your care over the past seven months. Also to the staff at Health Sciences Center ICU and fourth floor, thank you for the care and compassion you showed our family.
