New Glasgow – Robert MacIntosh. After a long and fruitful life, we announce with sadness the passing of a dear father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather on March 26, 2008, in Glen Haven Manor. Born in Coalburn, Pictou County, on March 16, 1911, to the late Alexander and Catherin (MacMillen) MacIntosh. At an early age, the family moved to the South End in New Glasgow. Robert stayed there until 1980 after the death of his dear wife Hannah. He then moved to MacLellan’s Brook to be with Brenda. Bobby as he was known by almost everyone, worked for the C.N.R. for 34 years. He was always proud to say he took over his father’s job as Freight Porter when he retired. He leaves to mourn his daughter, Mary Fennell; sister, Dorothy Giffin; son-in-law, Robert Cameron; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild. He will be sorely missed by Bill and Deloris Logan, and daughters, Rosemary and Coleene. Bill made his home with Bobby and Hannah in his formative years. Robert was predeceased by his wife, the former Hannah Hayman; daughters: Dorothy “Dolly” Cameron, Ruby Nebehaj, Brenda MacIntosh; brothers, James and George; sisters: Violet, Janet and Stella. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook officiating. Burial will be in Lorne Street Cemetery at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Summer Street Industries. “Your battle is over, it’s time to rest; and those who knew you, are truly blessed.”
