Shirley Anne Patriquin - 60, Lavinia St., New Glasgow passed away peacefully Friday, January 11, 2008, at the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was an amazing seamstress with the ability to make the perfect outfit, whether it be a "flowerpot" dress, prom dress or wedding dress. As MS closed doors, Shirley continued to open new windows, and took on new hobbies and interests including cross-stitching, crewel work and her latest passion, the stock market. Shirley was a member of Trinity United Church, New Glasgow. She is survived by her husband of 40 years Sheldon, New Glasgow; daughters, Jennifer (Robert) van Hartingsveldt, Dundas, Ontario; Julie (Blair) Nickerson, Enfield, NS; son, Jason (Melissa "Missy"), Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, India van Hartingsveldt and Sophie Patriquin; sisters, Linda (Jack) Wood, New Glasgow; Donna (Roy) Cornett; brothers: Doug (Rosalie "Chiz"), Wayne, Lloyd (Marie), Ross "Rusty" (Cindy), all of MacLellan's Brook; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday at Trinity United Church, New Glasgow, with Lori Crocker Diaconal Minister officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Shirley would have appreciated donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Pictou County V.O.N.
