HALIFAX - Alberta Ruth "Bertie" Nelson, 87, passed away Monday, March 19, 2007, at Northwood Centre, Halifax. Born in Mill Brook, Pictou Co., she was the daughter of the late John and Grace (Currie) Nelson. Alberta graduated from New Glasgow High School and Maritime Business College. She was employed in a supervisory capacity at HMS Dockyards, Halifax, for over 30 years, from where she retired. For the last several years, she has been residing at Northwood Manor in Halifax where she was very involved in various activities. Alberta is survived by sisters, Katherine MacLeod, Pembroke, Ontario, and Margaret (George) Forbes, Little Harbour, and by two sisters-in-law, Margaret Nelson, Moncton; and Cathy Nelson, Westville. She was predeceased by brothers, Currie and Robert. Following her wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes at a later date in Mill Brook Cemetery, Pictou Co. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mill Brook Cemetery, RR2 Westville, B0K 2A0 or Northwood Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Cruickshanks Funeral Home.
