HALIFAX – Alexander Cecil MacKenzie, 91, Halifax, formerly of New Glasgow, died Saturday, February, 9, 2008, in QE II Health Sciences Centre Infirmary Site. Born in Roachvale, Guysborough, Co., he was a son of the late Alexander and Mildred (Horton) MacKenzie. Alexander worked in the New Glasgow area as a finish carpenter and as a pattern maker for Trenton Car Works. He was active in the People’s and Bible Baptist Churches in the New Glasgow area and as of late attended Sheffield Baptist Church in Halifax. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dorothy (Slater); sons, Brian (Lois), Peterborough, Ont.; Tory (Elaine), New Glasgow; grandchildren: Brian (Valerie), Christina, Todd, Tim, Courtney, Chris. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by brothers, Edmund and Floyd; and sister, Elizabeth. Visitation will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral at 2 p.m., both in Guysborough Baptist Church, with Pastor Warren Fitzgerald officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to the Peoples Gospel Hour.
