
BALFOUR STIRLING BAILEY
BAILEY, BALFOUR STIRLING The death of Balfour Stirling Bailey occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on March 26, 2002, at the age of 72. He was born in Fredericton on April 29, 1929, son of the late William T. Bailey and Josephine (White) Bailey. He was a member of St. Mary's Parish Church. He served on the Vestry and was a Church Warden. He taught Sunday School for 30 years and was a member of the choir. He was employed by the NB Department of Natural Resources for 41 years, retiring in 1989. He was a well known drummer in the Fredericton area playing with various bands. He was a member of the St. Andrew's Pipe Band for 17 years. He was inducted into the NB Country Hall of Fame in October 1999. He is survived by his wife Mavis, one son Peter (Dianne), 2 daughters, Heather Palmer, Karen (Len) Kelly, two grandsons Patrick Kelly and Connar Kelly, one granddaughter Kristin Palmer, one step-grandson Adam Rosborough, two sisters, Eleanor Minue, Fredericton Connie Beach, Saint John, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Douglas Bailey, Eldred Bailey, and Frederick Bailey. The remains will be resting at York Funeral Home, Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Thursday, March 28. Visiting hours 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The service will be held at St. Mary's Parish Church, McEvoy Street, Fredericton on Friday, March 29 at 2 p.m. Interment at the Douglas Rural Cemetery at a later date. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the St. Mary's Parish Church.
