WATERVALE - Arnold "Carl" Pedersen, 61, Watervale, Pictou County, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 2, 2007, at his home. Born in Green Hill, he was a son of Catherine (Fraser) Smith and the late William Pedersen. Carl was a high pressure welder at the Pictou Shipyards and later Hawker Siddeley Ltd. He was a member of the West River Fire Department for over 25 years and was also a member of St. Luke's United Church, Salt Springs. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (MacKay); daughters, Judy, at home, and Sandra Foance (Robert), Halifax; sisters, Shirley MacLeod, Green Hill; Lois Lynch, Manitoba; and Heather MacFarlane, N.B.; and brothers, Doug and David, N.B. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Dawn; sister, Margo; brother, Bill; and stepfather, Reg Smith. Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, where his funeral service will be held 3 o'clock Thursday with Mary MacDermid officiating. Burial will be in Durham Cemetery.
