Betty Langille

HOPEWELL – Betty Langille, 86, of Hopewell, Pictou County, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at home. Born in River John, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Nina (Stramburg) Munro. Betty graduated from the former Provincial Normal College, Truro, and taught school before her marriage. Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell, a life member of the A.M.S., a member of the Guild as well as a 65 year member of the Silver Light Rebekah Lodge. Betty was an avid reader and was very fond of a good game of cards. Animals were a good part of her life especially cats. Her favourite friend in the last years was her cat “Trixie”, although a bit “anti-social.” After her marriage, she and her husband, Eben, lived in Orangedale and West Bay Road, Cape Breton for seven years before moving to Hopewell, Pictou County. Surviving is a sister-in-law, Kay Munro, River John; a brother-in-law, Graham Miller, Halifax and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Eben; two brothers, Charles and Douglas; a sister, Mary (Mrs. Graham Miller). Her remains will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, for visiting from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday from the First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell, with Andrew MacDonald officiating. Burial will take place in the Hopewell Cemetery, Foxbrook Road, Hopewell. Donations in memory of Betty may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell or to the SPCA.
