TRENTON, ON - Catherine 'Arlene' Garvin, MSW - In the presence of her family, Arlene Garvin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 26th, 2007. Our dear daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend. Born May 6th, 1951, in New Glasgow, NS, to Betty (Lloyd) Garvin and the late John Garvin. Granddaughter of the late Annie and John Lloyd and James and Victoria Garvin. Sister of Neil Garvin of Toronto, Ellen Hunter (Paul) of Ottawa, Patricia Garvin (late John Armstrong) Trenton, Shirley Forrest (Bill Maitland) of Toronto and the late David Garvin. Special Aunt 'Jo' and biggest fan of Amber and Sean Garvin; Christopher, Nicholas and Michael Hunter; Jeffrey Garvin; Sarah and Matthew Forrest; Kelly Anne (Dallas) Spanier. Niece of Harold Lloyd, Charlottetown, PEI; John Lloyd (Lucy) of Kemptville, ON; Mary Langille of New Glasgow, NS; Tom Lloyd (Sherry) of Westville, NS; and the late Clarence Lloyd (Margaret of Ottawa). Will also be missed by life long family friend John Palmer of Greenhill, NS. Following her education at Trenton High School, Arlene was employed by Gibson Greeting Cards in Toronto and at the University of Guelph. She continued her education and achieved an Honours BA from the University of Guelph before pursuing a Masters in Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University. Arlene was then employed as a Crisis Counsellor at Belleville General Hospital where she continued to fulfil her passion for helping others. When health problems precluded her from full time work, she did her best to brighten the lives of all she met as a cashier at WalMart(Trenton). The family will receive friends at the Rushnell Funeral Centre, 60 Division Street, Trenton, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be held at Grace United Church, Dundas Street East, Trenton on Monday, October 1st, 2007, at 11 a.m. Rev. Tim Hayward officiating. Interment Mount Calvary Cemetery. If desired, Memorial Donations to the Quinte Hospice, Ovarian Cancer Research or Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
