RIVERTON – Charlotte Mary Mayo, 94, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Sunset Haven Rest Home, New Glasgow, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008, in the Villa. Born November 5, 1913, in Little Sands, P.E.I., she was the daughter of the late John Alexander and Rebecca (Buell) Gillis. Prior to moving to Pictou County with her family in 1960, she resided in Halifax. She was a member of St. Matthew’s United Church, Halifax. Charlotte was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Surviving are her daughter, Norma (Eldon) Rae, Westville; daughter-in-law, Linda Mayo, Westville; grandchildren: Angela Rae, Adam Rae, Gerald (Tena) Mayo, Gina Cameron and Alvah Mayo; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Tyler Cameron; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Alfred Mayo; son, Keith; brothers: Bill, Alex, Clarence, Gordon, Art and Miles. The family will receive visitors 7-9 p.m. today in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel with Rev. Maureen O’Hagan officiating.
