D. Alonzo Cameron age 69 of Chance Harbour, Pictou County, passed away on Friday, April 25th, 2008 at home. Born in New Glasgow he was the son of the late Donald F. and Harriett (Graham) Cameron. Alonzo was a resident of Chance Harbour since 1986 and previously had lived in Stellarton. He was a longtime employee with I. Matheson Co. from where he retired. Alonzo had a passion for music having played with various bands over the years and was a longtime member of the Pictou County Fiddlers. He was a member of Branch #34 Royal Canadian Legion, New Glasgow. Surviving are a son, Fred (Beverly) of Chance Harbour; a daughter Monica (Doug) King of Chance Harbour; grandchildren, Colin and Lesley; companion, Shirley Greene of Pinetree; uncle Lincoln Cameron of Stellarton; a number of cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Margaret Elizabeth (Betty) Munroe. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday in the H.W.Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 P.M. with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Alonzo may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
