PICTOU LANDING - Donald David MacKinnon, age 57, of Pictou Landing, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at home. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Hector and Margaret (Colwell) MacKinnon. He was employed as an industrial mechanic with Michelin for the past 30 years. He graduated from Pictou Regional Vocational School in 1969 and joined the Canadian Air Force where he served for eight years. He was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34 New Glasgow. He is survived by his wife, the former Michele Morin; sons, Matthew, Drumheller, Alberta; Adam, Halifax; sister, Ann (Brian) Dewys, Burlington, Ontario; brother, Bill, Hamilton, Ontario; brother-in-law, Jean Villeneuve, Pictou Landing; nieces and nephews and his buddy, Bristol. He was predeceased by sister, Margaret Villeneuve; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Stillar. Cremation will take place. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Pictou County SPCA or a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
