JORDAN, CAROL LOUISE The death of Carol Louise Jordan occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Monday, December 23 after a courageous battle with cancer. Carol was born in Fredericton on June 4, 1940, the daughter of the late Olen and Glenna (Jewett) Jordan. Carol is survived by her children Deborah VanSlyke (Stephen) of Fredericton, Deidre Green (Shaun Gallagher) of Fredericton, Deanna Green (Frank Vanderlaan) of Kingston, ON and Peter Green of Ottawa, ON; her partner Jerry Arseneault; her brother Glenwood Jordan (Debbie); and her beloved grandchildren Jeremy and Kristen VanSlyke, Anna and Jonathan Gallagher and Adam Vanderlaan. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew Gallagher. Carol graduated from the VPH School of Nursing (1961) and the University of New Brunswick (BN '79 and M.Ed. '88). She began her nursing career at the Victoria Health Center and later worked at the Rookwood Avenue Medical Clinic. Her most memorable nursing years were spent providing health care for students at the UNB Health Center where she worked from 1971 until her retirement in 2000. She was actively involved with numerous committees at UNB including Peer Alcohol Education, Student Services and Homecoming 2000 and was also involved in the UNB Residence system, serving as Don of Rosary Hall and Tibbits House. A member of Brunswick Street United Baptist Church, she volunteered with the New Life program. She also volunteered with Onstage Council of the Arts. Carol was a life-long animal lover, loved to travel and enjoyed outdoor sports. She was deeply appreciative of the loving care she received during her stay at the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Her enthusiasm and laughter will be missed by those who knew her. Visitation will be held at River Valley Funeral Services Limited, 50 Avonlea Court (off Bishop Drive) 4554267, Fredericton on Friday, December 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will take place at Brunswick Street United Baptist Church on Saturday, December 28 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Terry Atkinson officiating. A private burial will take place in the Bear Island Cemetery at a later date.
