STELLARTON/SUNNY BRAE - Dorothy Hughena MacDonald, age 88, of 79 Acadia Ave., Stellarton, and formerly of Sunny Brae, Pictou Co., passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 28, 2007. Born in Sunny Brae, she was a daughter of the late Lawson and Ena (Cruickshank) MacQuarrie. Dorothy was a resident of Stellarton for the past 14 years and prior to that was a longtime resident of Sunny Brae. She was a member of Bridgeville United Church. Dorothy worked as a cook for some time for Hugh Erskine at his lumber mill. She was a member of the MacDonald Rebekah Lodge #108 Sunny Brae. Dorothy enjoyed knitting as a past time. Surviving are a son, Lawson (Norma), Oshawa, Ont.; daughter, Christena (Teedee) (Doug) Holley, Brampton, Ont.; sons, Finlay (Julie), Stellarton; Gregory (Greg), Stellarton; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary MacQuarrie, Stellarton; a brother, George (Mary) MacQuarrie, Middle Musquodoboit; a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Russell MacDonald; a son, Malcolm (Malkie); brothers: Mack, Jim and Ronald; sisters, Catherine and Beatrice. Her remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday from where funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Roy officiating. Cremation to follow with burial of ashes in the Sunny Brae Cemetery. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital or to the VON.
