Dorothy Jean Works

STELLARTON – Dorothy Jean Works, age 78, of Coll Ave., Stellarton, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2008, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John and Jenny (Dunbar) Pentz. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Stellarton. She was a former employee of Maritime Beverages, Clairetone and Wear Well Garments as a bookkeeper. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, painting, reading and doing crossword puzzles. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, and will be sadly missed. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are daughters: Linda (Robert) White, of Stellarton; Laureen (Robert) Livingstone, of New Glasgow; Beverley Works, of Stellarton; Marie (Dale) MacLeod, of Greenhill; son, Brian (Katherine) Works, of Vancouver B.C., daughter-in-law Elva Works, of Trenton; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Howard; a son, Howard; brothers: Lloyd, John and Bobby; a sister, Muriel. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at 11 a.m., from Our of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital or to the I.W.K.
