Merigomish -Dorothy Pearl (Cameron) Pike, age 77, of Merigomish, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 24th, 2007, surrounded by her family in the Halifax Infirmary QEII. Born November 30th, 1929, in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John and Greta (MacLean) Cameron, Merigomish. She began her nursing career at the Verdun Hospital, Verdun, Quebec, and later worked at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow until her retirement. Dorothy lived her life as a giving person, always putting others first, she will be deeply missed by all who loved her and those whose lives were touched. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur; grandson, Jacob VanSickle; and a brother in infancy. She is survived by her much loved children: Jeff (Pamela), Calgary; Byron (Donna), Calgary; Debbie VanSickle, Merigomish; Cyndi Chabassol (Joe), Moncton; Art (Christine), New Glasgow; and son-in-law, Stephen VanSickle, Bermuda; six grandchildren: Jason, Ryan and Brennan Pike, Calgary; Abigail VanSickle, Merigomish; Jaime and Lauren Pike, New Glasgow; sisters, Gloria Munro, New Glasgow; Doris (Bob) MacKenzie, Merigomish; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 28th, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, June 29th at 11 a.m. from St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Merigomish, with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Family interment will be held in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the St. Paul's Presbyterian Church Fund in Merigomish.
