RIVERTON – Dorothy Violet Burge, of Riverton, passed away on Saturday, August 16th, 2008, on her 69th birthday at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Port Dufferin Mines, Halifax County, she was a daughter of the late Fulton and Janie (Munroe) Tibbo. Dorothy was a resident of Riverton. She lived in Greenhill for some time after returning from Toronto. She was an adherent of the United Church. Dorothy was an employee of Sears and while living in Toronto, she was employed with the Credit Bureau. She is survived by her daughter, Sherri-Lynn of Toronto; brothers: Murray, Porter’s Lake; Duncan, Angus, Ont.; sisters: Evelyn, New Minas; Agnes, Dartmouth; Jennie, New Glasgow; Carol, Lake Echo; also a number of nieces, nephews and special friends, especially her special niece, Debby. Dorothy was predeceased by a brother in infancy. Cremation has taken place. A family graveside service will be held in the Abercrombie Cemetery at 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev. John Roy officiating. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Pictou County S.P.C.A. or the Northumberland Veterans Wing, Pictou. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton.
