E.T. "Ed" Collins

PICTOU – Edwin Thomas “Ed” Collins, 72, of Pictou, passed away February 8, 2008, at home. Born in London, England, he was a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Wiltshire) Collins. Ed was in the R.C.A.F for ten years until 1964 when he left to become a bricklayer with his father. Ed worked all over Canada and settled in Pictou where he worked for the Town of Pictou until his retirement. An avid golfer he was a member and past president of the Pictou Golf and Country Club, and was also a member and past King Lion of the Pictou Lions Club. A staunch advocate of A.A. he was a proud member for 32 years. He is survived by his wife, Erma (Bingley); sons: Thomas (Lisa), Bob, and James; all of Calgary; John (Brenda), Loch Broom; and daughter, Donna Collins (Stephen MacKenzie), Pictou; grandchildren: Nicholas, Stephanie, Robyn, Delaney, and Allison; step grandchildren: Nicole, Myles, Amy, Jesse, and Ashley; sister, Veronica Faquy, Quebec City. He was predeceased by a grandson, Coady Christopher. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday from St. James Anglican Church, Pictou, with Rev. Bill White officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of choice.
