GARRATT, JULIA GERTRUDE (PUGH, HARVEY) The death of Julia Gertrude (Pugh, Harvey) Garratt of Ancaster, Ontario, wife of Bill Garratt occurred on Wednesday February 5, 2003 at St. Peters Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario after a courageous battle with cancer. Julia was the daughter of the late George and Myrtle Pugh. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Brigg and Eric Harvey and one granddaughter Crystal all of Ontario; her sister, Glenna (Harold) Villers of Fredericton; sister-in-law, Margaret Pugh of Fredericton and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, William Harvey; sister Patricia McLean and brother, Gerald Pugh. Julia was born in 1923 in Nashwaaksis where she attended the Nashwaaksis School and then Fredericton High School. She went on to attend the Provincial Normal School and taught School in Estey's Bridge prior to leaving for Montreal where she attained her R.N. from the Montreal General Hospital. She then immediately joined the Canadian Army as a nursing sister and served overseas until the end of World War II. She spent her married life in the Toronto area where she worked as a Public Health nurse until her retirement. Julia lived life to the fullest and her love of travel took her to many corners of the world. At her request there will be no funeral service. Interment will take place at the Douglas Rural Cemetery at a later date.
