GREGORY E. (GREGG) SGT. RTD. COLLINS

COLLINS, GREGORY E. (GREGG) SGT. RTD. The death of Gregory E. Collins of Rusagonis, NB, occurred peacefully at the Oromocto Public Hospital on May 25, 2003. Born at Golden Grove, NB, on May 25, 1923, he was the son of the late Arthur and Lillian (Duffley) Collins. Gregg served with the Canadian Forces R.C.E.M.E. for over 30 years, retiring in 1971. He was a well known horse breeder, operating Aaron's Acres in Rusagonis. He was a member of the Atlantic Standard Breeders Association; the Fredericton Horsemen's Association; a founding member of the Oromocto and area Co-op; member of the Kennel Club as well as a dog breeder; honorary director of NB Standard bred Breeders and Owner's Association Inc.; The Fredericton Shriner's Club; The Masonic Lodge; Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite; The Centennial Lodge #53 F & AM - Life Member and an honorary member of Brownfield WO's & Sgts. Mess Combat Arms School. Gregg's Masonic career included Charter Member and Past Member of Centennial Lodge #53; Maxwell Lodge of Perfection; King Solomon Chapter Rose Croix; NB Sovereign Consistory; Luxor's Shrine of NB; Past President of the Fredericton Shrine Club; Luxor Fire Brigade and Past Master Unit. Gregg is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary (Ross) Collins, two daughters, Brenda Cryderman (Larry) of Guelph, Ont., Maureen Kennedy (Blake) of Rusagonis; beloved grandfather to Aaron Kennedy (Karen) of Quispamsis, NB, Sarah Kennedy of Rusagonis, and loving Poppa to great granddaughter Kelsey Kennedy, three brothers, Frank Collins (May) of Saint John, NB, Carl Collins (Judy) of Golden Grove, NB, David Collins (Connie) of South Portland, ME, three sisters, Patricia Hazelwood of Quispamsis, NB, Marjorie Mason of Saint John, NB, and Rita Morris (Willie) of Hampton, NB, also several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his daughter Laurie in 1974 and an infant son and daughter. There will be no visitation. Following cremation a memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at 7 p.m. from Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton. A prviate family committal service will follow. The Masonic Lodge will hold a tribute at the memorial.
