G. Robert Bain, 83, of Waldegrave, formerly of Toney River, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008, at Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. Born in West Branch, he was the son of the late Dan and Christena (Munro) Bain. Robert was a retired employee of Michelin Canada, owner/operator of the Irving Garage in Toney River for many years and drove the school bus. He enjoyed farming, family barbecues, dances, and long drives with no destination. Survived by his wife, Shirley (Weatherbie) and daughters: Beverly (Gary) Patterson. Sheila (Alex) Grant, Barb (Norman) Melnick, Lisa (Keith) Gratto, Janice Odo (Don) Smith; son, Danny, stepsons: Kip (Janice), Keith (Velda), Kevin (Helen), Kendall (Charlotte) Weatherbie; brother, John (Doris); sisters, Mary Bain, Elizabeth (Ed) Burns; sister-in-law Emily Bain; grandchildren: Sarah, Melissa and Emily Grant; Robbie, Tina, Katie and Colleen Patterson; Joey and Tony Melnick; Damien, Danten Odo and Baylee Smith; step-grandchildren: Krystal, Jennifer, Jessica, Katelyn, Ryan, Alan and Kara Weatherbie and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife Muriel (Fraser) Bain; brothers James, Richard and sister Hazel. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. from MacLeod's Funeral Home, River John. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 4, at 2 p.m. from St. David's Presbyterian Church, Toney River with Rev. Jeanette Fleischer officiating and assisted by Rev. Donald Sutherland. Burial at Riverbank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Robert's memory may be made to the Riverbank Cemetery of St. David's Presbyterian Church.
