George Garfield " Gar" Mackenzie

Stellarton – George Garfield “ Gar” MacKenzie, age 68, of Stellarton, passed away Tuesday, October 28th, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Charles Garfield and Mary (Morrison) (MacKenzie) Kehoe. Gar lived most of his life in Stellarton. He worked as a coal miner most of his life, having worked in Pictou County mines, he also was a draegerman in the mine. Gar enjoyed fishing and doing puzzles. Surviving are sons: James (Jim) (Miranda), Trenton; Gerald, New Glasgow; Todd, Stellarton; daughters: Susan, Westville; Rose (Daniel) Avery, New Glasgow; Heather (Jim) Morrison, Stellarton; Patti, Stellarton; special friend, Isabel Hayman and her children, Bill (Darlene) Lees and Doug (Beryl ) Hayman; 15 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; a brother Vernon, Stellarton; an aunt, Audrey Wallace, Stellarton; and an uncle, Norman Morrison, Alberta. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Jean MacDonald; a son, Garfield Nathan; his step-father, Jim Kehoe. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton.
