NEELTJE (NELLIE) HOEKMAN
HOEKMAN, NEELTJE (NELLIE) Neeltje (Nellie) Hoekman of Upper Hainesville passed away June 18, 2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Holland on September 24, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Aris Cornelis and Maartje (den Toom) Koot. She and her husband came to Canada in 1948. Nellie was a member of the Staple Settlement Baptist Church and affiliated with the Upper Hainesville Baptist Church. She is survived by four daughters, Mary Clapham (Mitch), Meductic, Frances Peterson, Port Coquitlam, BC, Nancy Hoekman-McCurdy (Gerald), Fairfield, California and Jeannette Morgan (Donald), Caverhill Road; four sons, Ralph Hoekman (Mary-Lou), Caverhill Road, Harry Hoekman (Linda), Miramichi City, Gerret (John) Hoekman (Gloria), Upper Hainesville and Roger Hoekman (Stephanie), Caverhill Road; a brother, Bill Koot (Beb), Holland; 25 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Nellie was predeceased by her husband John Hoekman in 1987, infant children Alice and Bill and a sister, Alice. Resting at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic with visiting hours Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Saturday, June 21, 2003 at 2 p.m. Rev. Donald MacDougall officiating, assisted by Rev. Dale Greer. Interment will be in the Staple Settlement Cemetery. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Nellie, the family has suggested the Red Cross, Gideon Bibles, DECH Palliative Care Unit, River Valley Christian Academy or the Staple Settlement Cemetery.
