NEW GLASGOW - George William Hughes, 83, Brother St. Senior Citizens, New Glasgow, passed away May 10, 2007, at his home. Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late Alfred and Ethel (Harriman) Hughes. He was a resident of Alma for some 20 years before moving back to New Glasgow in 1982. He was a former employee with the C.N.R. and until his retirement he owned and operated an auto body repair shop in Alma. He was a member of Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow, and a former member of Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton. George enjoyed photography as a hobby and took many pictures. He is survived by daughters, Judy Grousworth, Quebec; Sandra Muir, Ontario; son, Larry Hughes, Westville; and close friend, Donalda Clements, New Glasgow. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A public graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in the Alma Cemetery with Rev. Rhonda Britton officiating. Donations may be made to Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow or Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton.
