GILKS, OLIVE OPAL MARIE The passing of Mrs. Opal Gilks, wife of Herbert Gilks, Blissfield, NB, occurred at her residence, Saturday, July 19, 2003. Born in Holtville, NB, daughter of the late David and Myrtle (Price) Carson. She was a Homemaker, a member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Doaktown and a member of Blissfield Guild and a life member of Branch #23 Ladies Auxiliary. Besides her husband she is survived by five daughters: Evelyn M. Hartling, Blackville, Dorothy E. Parks (Bill), St. Stephen, NB, Glenna L. Gaston (Edward),Doaktown, Charlotta L. Hamilton (Rick), BC, Linda C. Carter (Sterling) Calais, Maine; three sons: Murray (Loretta), BC, Boyd (Shirley), Doaktown, Keith (Barbara), Boiestown; two sisters: Mrs. Greta Arseneault, Saint John, Mrs. Marjorie Green, Toronto; 25 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents; four brothers: Cecil, Jack, David and Clark; three sisters: Eunice, Helen and Winnie; son-in-law Edgar Hartling; infant grandson Robert Hartling. Opal loved to be in her home cooking, knitting, sewing, quilting and especially spending time with her family all of whom she loved very much. Opal very much enjoyed the many family gatherings at her home where she could have her loved ones surrounding her. Mrs. Opal Gilks is resting at Davidson's Funeral Home, Doaktown, NB, with visitation Monday 7-9 and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m. from St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Doaktown with Father David Titus officiating. Burial will follow in Ford Hollow Cemetery. At the request of the family donations to St. Andrew's Anglican Church, the Diabetic Association or a memorial of ones choice would be appreciated.
