MILDRED ELEANOR HARVEY

HARVEY, MILDRED ELEANOR Mildred Eleanor, daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Fletcher) Harvey, born July 21, 1910, died at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on July 26, 2003. Mildred was a life long resident of the City of Fredericton and took an active interest in the city and its development. She was also a life long active member of Wilmot United Church and served on many of its boards and committees. Her concern and love for children was such that she taught Sunday School for kindergarten children for over 40 years. She was one of the founding members of the Church Guild (later United Church Women) and the bonds of friendship forged there were never broken. She was active in politics and helped organize women's groups in New Brunswick to become politically active and aware. Mildred was interested in Public Speaking and was involved in recruiting for Dale Carnegie Classes and an enthusiastic member of the Dale Carnegie Club for many years. Mildred graduated from Fredericton High School in 1928 and began her business career as a secretary for Estey and Curtis later renamed Eastern Drug. She was honored at a retirement dinner in 1981 retiring after fifty-two years of continuous service to the same organization. Mil was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by nephews, Carl Mabie (Donna) of Canandaigua, NY; Alward (Ollie) Firlotte of Campbellton; nieces, Mae Fowlie, of Woodstock, Evon Dukeshire of New Minas, NS, Edith Mabie of Fredericton. She is survived and will be missed by great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and great great great nieces and nephews. Her life long friend, Peggy Jamieson predeceased her in April of this year. At her request, no visitation will be held. All are invited to attend a service to celebrate her life at Wilmot United Church, Carleton Street, Fredericton, on Tuesday, July 29th, 2003 at 2:00 pm. A reception to follow in the church hall. Memorial tributes to Wilmot United Church would be appreciated by the family. McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. www.mcadamsfh.com
