Glen Jeston Wagner

Plymouth - Glen Jeston Wagner, 83, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Canada, Lunenburg, Co., he was a son of the late Alton and Elva (Sarty) Wagner. He served in the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Navy Medical Corp. He was a licensed technician with the Dept. of Agriculture and Marketing; he was a barber for a short time and he farmed a hennery in Yarmouth Co. His profession in the health care community started as superintendent of the Yarmouth Co. Home and later the Annapolis Co. Home. In 1966, he became the first administrator of Mountain Lea Lodge and later co-administrator of the Sunset Haven Rest Home. After 40 years in this field, he retired in 1986 and spent 14 wonderful winters in Florida. He was an avid camper and nature lover, catching his last fish only a week ago. Glen was a member of the United Commercial Travellers; past member of Yarmouth and Bridgetown Lions and was presently a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton. Surviving are his wife, Jeannine M. (Holloway) (MacDonald) Wagner; sister, Alice (Max) Jefferson, Sudbury, Ont.; sisters-in-law, Jean Wagner, Bridgewater; Janice Wagner, Berwick. He will ever be remembered by his beloved children: Judy (Robert) Lockett, Bridgetown; Elaine Wagner Neovard, North Battleford, Sask.; step-children: Carolyn Francis, Oxford; Keith (Mary) MacDonald, New Glasgow; Maureen (Cliff) Cox, Salt Springs; Alison MacDonald, Oxford; and his precious grandchildren: Michele (Graham) Wright; Michael (Andrea) Lockett; Shawn and Derrick Wagner; step-grandchildren: Shauna (Gordon); Chelsea; Lloyd (Christine); Jacob; Christopher; Christine; great-grandchildren: Lexie, MacKenzie, Katrina, Hailey and Brady. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Elenor Marie (Randell); brothers: Molye, Maurice, Basil, Richard and Lowell Wagner; sisters: Myrtle Wagner (in infancy); Olive, Pearl, Lorna and Florence. Always a gentleman, and respected by all he will be ever remembered as a dear husband, father, grandfather and friend. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown at a later date.
