Gloria Alice Tomkinson, (Eaton), (MacDonald), 81, Pictou Landing, passed away peacefully on Friday June 22, 2007, at Shiretown Nursing Home, in Pictou, Nova Scotia after a courageous battle with her illness. Gloria was the eldest of five daughters of the late William Douglas and Lulu Reid (MacPherson) Eaton. She was a lifelong member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Pictou Landing. Gloria is survived by her children: Elizabeth MacQuarrie, Pictou Landing, Kathleen (and the late John) Fuller of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Mary Lou (Charlie) Munro of Saint John, New Brunswick and John Buckley (Roxanne) MacDonald of Pictou Landing, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Dacia (Ivor) MacDonald and their children Veronika and Caroline, Bedford, Gregory (Janet) MacQuarrie and their children Reid, Hannah and Carson, Evan (Janice) Fuller and Cristy Fuller (Rob Andres) of Winnipeg Manitoba, Scott Munro Petawawa, Ont. Ryan Munro Victoria BC, Andrew Munro Fredericton, NB, and Lacie and Sheyane MacDonald of Pictou Landing. She is also survived by her sisters, Lolly (Neil) MacDonald New Glasgow, and Jeddy (Bruce) Stevens, Saint John, NB, brother-in-law, Robert Fraser, Bedford, NS, and step-daughters, Nancy Fisher and Pollyanne Gervais, Ontario, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Buckley MacDonald, and her second husband, Frank Tomkinson, her sisters, Josephine Fraser, Halifax, and Kathleen Hays and her husband John of Pictou Landing and brother-in-law, Roy Gallant. Gloria worked on 2nd south at the Aberdeen Hospital for a number of years and very much enjoyed patient care. Cremation has taken place. Her family will receive visitors in the H W Angus Funeral Home New Glasgow on Tuesday, June 26, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with funeral services from the Bethel Presbyterian Church, Pictou Landing, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, with Rev. Joanne Vines officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Pictou Landing. Donations in memory of Gloria may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital or a charity of choice.
