DOUGLAS J. STAFFORD

STAFFORD, DOUGLAS J. Passed away at his home in Nasonworth, NB, September 27, 2003. He was the son of the late Bernard and Amanda (Lyons) Stafford. Doug was a veteran of WWII, a charter member of the New Maryland Lions club, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Doug was well known for his community service, and received numerous awards of Recognition and appreciation for his volunteer service to his community, service organizations, nursing homes, senior citizens and youth groups. "His life was to bring joy to others and improve their quality of life, particularly to children and seniors". Survived by his wife, Grace (Whittaker) Stafford. His daughter Linda, two sons: Wayne and Roger. Grandsons: Peter, Andrew, Michael, Shawn, Trevor and Derek. Great grandchildren: Steven and Riley. Three brothers: Ron, Dale and Rick of Fredericton. Five sisters: Evelyn, Jean, Joan of Fredericton, Helen, North Carolina, Francis, Saint John. Predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Amanda (Lyons) Stafford of Marysville, NB; four brothers: William Cecil, Hilton and Carl; three sisters: Grace (Dunphy), Rita (Hawkins), and Joyce (Kennedy), one grandchild, Jason. Visitation will be held at River Valley Funeral Services, 50 Avonlea Court, Fredericton, NB, (455-4267) Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #4 will hold a tribute service on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. followed by the New Maryland Lions Club memorial service at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the New Maryland United Baptist Church on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gerald Matthews officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the interment. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the New Maryland United Baptist Church would be appreciated.
