NEW GLASGOW – Heather Lynn MacDonald, 50, of 435 Martin Avenue, New Glasgow, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of Grace (Barkhouse) Reid, Thorburn, and the late Lester Reid. She was a resident of New Glasgow for the past 30 years where she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was employed as a nurse at the Valley View Villa in Riverton for the past three years, having previously worked at the Aberdeen Hospital and Ben’s Bakery. She is survived by her husband, Richard, New Glasgow; a daughter, Michelle (Jon) Heaton, Whitehorse; a son, Craig, New Glasgow; a brother, Kenneth (Laurie) Reid, Central West River; nephews, Shaun and Liam Reid; an aunt, Marcella (Dave)?Miller, Merigomish; and an uncle, Laverne (Pat) Barkhouse, Lunenburg. She was predeceased by her father, Lester; and a brother, Larry. Cremation to take place. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday from the First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial of ashes will be in the Thorburn Cemetery. Donations in memory of Heather may be made to the ALS Society of Canada, the VON (Pictou County Branch) or the First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow.
