GEORGE ROBERT HOLLAND
HOLLAND, GEORGE ROBERT The death of George Robert Holland of Richibucto Road, husband of Viola A. (Somerville) Holland, occurred on Thursday, October 9, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Barker's Point, he was the son of the late Oliver and Tressa (Jordan) Holland. George was a farmer, transport driver, a night watchman for Irving Oil for 9 years, and a self-employed contractor. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked to hunt, and he also enjoyed attending auctions. In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by his children, Robin Mockler (Doug) of Noonan, G. Robert (Bob) Holland of Penniac, and Marilyn Doreen Holland of Richibucto Road; brothers Howard (Violet), Hartley (Edwina), and Garnet, all of Barker's Point and Merritt (Judy) of Noonan; sisters Lillian Wilson (Bill), Annie Harris, Florence O'Neill ( Edward) and Doris Jamieson, all of Barker's Point, and Joyce Greer of Noonan; grandsons Jonathan Holland, Jody Christie, Sheldon Christie, Jason Christie, Jordan Mockler, Ryan Sprague, Jeremy Sprague, and Jared Briggs; granddaughters Stacie Dawn Briggs, Amanda Holland, and Kayla Sprague; a great grandson, Travis Briggs; and several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by a son, Thomas; and a brother, Weldon. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, Brookside Drive at Douglas Avenue, Fredericton North, on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:30 PM from the Noonan Cornerstone Christian Outreach. Pastor Dwight McCoy will officiate, assisted by Pastor George Corney. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Ricky Perley, John Flinn, Mark Christie, Ed Stafford, Karl Grant, and Randy Clark.
