Stellarton - Helen Mae Rodgers, age 84, of High Crest Place, New Glasgow and formerly of Kensington Ave., Stellarton, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Stellarton, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Cora (Joudrey) Watters. Helen lived most of her life in Stellarton. She was an active member of Sharon St. John United Church serving on several committees and also served as an Elder. Helen was a life member of the U.C.W. Helen was a devoted mother and grandmother. Surviving are a son, Allan (Julie) Rodgers, Little Harbour; a daughter, Deborah (Bruce) Carpenter, Stellarton; grandchildren: Mark, Christopher, Allyson, Anne, Angela, Matthew, Andrea, Carla, Christa; great-grandchildren: Christian, Eric, Layne, Camryn, Jamie, Merrin and Nikki; brothers: Allister (Tin) (Dorothy) Watters, Kamloops; Donald (Doreen) Watters, Kamloops; Benvie (Shirley) Watters, Kamloops; Edward (Sandra) Watters, Melmerby Beach, Pictou Co.; a sister, Viola (Hal) Hill-Smith, Kamloops; a number of nieces and nephews Helen was predeceased by her husband, Carl; a son, Eric; and a brother, Herbert (Hub). Her remains will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, for visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Sharon St. John United Church. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Helen may be made to Sharon St. John United Church, the Palliative Care Society or to the Alzheimer's Society. A reception will follow in the church hall.
