ALLEN, DORIS ISABEL The death of Doris Isabel Allen of Penniac, wife of the late Wendell Allen occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on October 12, 2003. Born on April 27, 1909 in Penniac, she was the daughter of George and Mary (Christie) Allen. Doris lived many years in Penniac, moving to Maryville in her later years. Mrs. Allen is survived by a special nephew, Gary Allen; a special niece Sandra Ferris as well as many other family members. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Neil and Keith. Doris grew up working for her uncle Harry Allen and her father in the outfitting business. Later she married Wendell and they worked together for many years in the business, eventually having their own camps "The Popals" on Cains River. Doris was a lifetime member of the Penniac and Marysville United Church. She was very active with the UCW helping convene many events. She also sang in the choir. She very much enjoyed her quilting at the Ladies Aid Hall in Penniac. Doris made many friends over her long life. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at 1 pm from the Penniac United Church with Rev. Mac Campbell officiating. Interment will be in the Penniac United Church Cemetery.
