GERTRUDE JEANNETTE ANDERSON
ANDERSON, GERTRUDE JEANNETTE (MClAUGHLIN) The death of Gertrude Jeannette (McLaughlin) Anderson of Fredericton, wife of Elmer G. Anderson occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 18, 2003 after a long and brave battle with cancer. Born in Williamsburg on May 28th, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Myrtle (Carson) Peacock. Gertrude taught school in Tay Mills for 17 years and her car was a very familiar site on the Royal Road as she transported her students on the way to and from school. Following the closing of the school she was employed at Bud's Style Shop in Fredericton and was also employed at the N.B. Power Commission until her retirement at the age of 65. After her retirement she devoted her time to her Grandchildren who played an integral part in her life. Gertrude was affiliated with the United Church in Tay Creek. Gertrude was predeceased by her first husband Jack McLaughlin who passed away in 1970. She was remarried to her present husband, Elmer Anderson, on May 18th, 1974. Besides her husband she is survived by her daughter, Shirley Wright and her husband John of Halifax, her stepdaughter, Marilyn Morgan and her husband Phillip of Fredericton, her beloved grandson Mark Phillips and his wife Lynn of Fredericton, her stepgranddaughter, Lisa Mazerall, her greatgrandsons, Gregory and Joseph Phillips, her step-greatgrandson Tyler Duthie and her great great granddaughter, Makayla Paige Bell, all of Fredericton. Besides her parents and first husband, Gertrude was predeceased by two brothers, Garnet and Fred Peacock and one sister, Daisy (Peacock) Hitchcock. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive at Douglas Avenue, Fredericton North, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 2 pm from York Funeral Home 's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, Fredericton with Rev. Wes Stanley Officiating. Interment will be in the Seymour Cemetery on the Kingsley Road. Pallbearers for the service are: greatgrandsons, Gregory and Joseph Phillips, step son-in-law, Phillip Morgan, nephew, Burns Peacock, step-nephew, Roy Dykeman, and dear friend Kenny Hayes.
