SAUNDERS, LAWRENCE J. The death of Lawrence John Saunders of Edith Avenue, husband of the late Zaida (Amos) Saunders occurred on Friday, October 17, 2003 at the St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born in South Devon, NB he was the son of the late Joseph and Hephzirah (Lawson) Saunders. Lawrence was employed with the General Hospital until his retirement. A member of the First Wesleyan Church, Boars Head Road. He is survived by seven sons; Lorne (Martha) of Quispamsis, Frank (Marilyn)of New Castle, Gary (Sophia) of Chillwack, BC, Quinton (Pat) of Saint John West, Stephen of Fredericton, Paul of Saint John, David (Linda) of Peterborough, Ontario, two daughters Muriel (Lawrence) Peister of Toronto, Pearl (Donald) Gaunce of Saint John, twenty four grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by four brothers Murray, Vernon, Arthur and Rev. Lawson Saunders. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-6347424) with visiting on Sunday, October 19, 2003 from 7-9 pm and Monday, October 20, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from the First Wesleyan Church Boars Head Road on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be held in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
