NEW GLASGOW – Ione Isabel Carrigan, 91, of the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Belmont Avenue, Stellarton, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008, in the Manor with her family at her side. Born in Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Margaret (MacKenzie) Kellock. Ione was a resident of the Glen Haven Manor for the past four months. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Stellarton. She worked at the former Pictou County Home, later going on to work at the Glen Haven Manor from where she retired in 1982. She is survived by her sons, Norval, Stellarton; Brett (Patricia), Saltsprings; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, son-in-law, Gordon Coolen, Stellarton; brothers: Herdman, Truro; Ross, Stellarton; Gordon, Chance Harbour; Sandy, Plymouth; sisters: Viola, Riverton; Lois, Plymouth; Marlene, Trenton, Ontario; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George “Dinny” Carrigan; a daughter, Nancy Coolen; brothers: Norval, Earl, Roy, Irving, and Scott; sisters: Erma, Margaret, Jean and Maxine. Her remains will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, for visiting from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday from the First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will take place in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
