Isabel "Belle" Macdonald

TRENTON – Isabel Kathleen “Belle” (Sofan) MacDonald, age 68, of High St., Trenton, passed away peacefully Monday, January 19, 2009, in the Aberdeen Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Inverness, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Anna (MacDonald) Sofan. She was a former employee of the Metropolitan Department Store in Antigonish and New Glasgow. She was actively involved in her church, Christ the King, serving as organist and choir director for many years and was a former member of the Altar Society. She was a member of the Martha Associates, the Inter-Parish Choir and she volunteered at the Shepherd’s Lunch Room. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; daughter, Winnie; son, Daniel (Carol); grandchildren, Aaron and Spencer, all of Trenton; sister, Brenda Sofan, New Glasgow; special niece, Mandy MacDonald, Riverview, NB; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her extended family “the MacDonalds”. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Winnifred; and a brother, Winston. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton. Funeral mass 11 a.m. Thursday in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church with Father Colin MacKinnon officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society. Knights of Columbus, Council 1667 will meet at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for prayers. www.rhporter.ca
