Herman Norris
(December 18, 1935 - June 5, 2008) 72 years of age. Now safe in the arms of Jesus, Herman went peacefully to be with his Saviour on Thursday, June 5, 2008, in Brampton, Ontario, his place of residence for the past 18 years. Born in Little Heart's Ease, Trinity Bay, Herman is predeceased by his parents George and Gertrude (nee Drodge); Herman will be lovingly missed by Norma (nee Anthony), his precious wife of 49 years, four grateful children, Donald (Tina), David (Donna), Sharon (Raymond) Scott, and Susan (Jason) Pond, and ten wonderful grandchildren, Deanne, Ryan, Joshua, Natalie, Meaghan, Kelly, Kurtis, Kristen, Lee, and Adam. Also survived by seven loving sisters and their families, Ena (Lloyd) Walker, Vida (Frank) Linhart, Mary Head, Jessie (Edward) Tarry, Zelma (Donald) Rixmann, Elsie (James) Wright, and Emily (Tim) Young. Herman will be fondly remembered by a loving extended family, cherished friends, colleagues and acquaintances. Spending most of his adult life in Mount Pearl, Herman was a successful businessman in heavy equipment, construction, real estate and church building. His love for the Lord shone through in his service to Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship, Gideon's International and his church. Skilled in carpentry and an avid hunter, fisherman and boat lover, Herman's smile and witty sense of humour will be a memory cherished by all who loved him. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John's; Visitation on Wednesday, June 11, 7 p.m. to 9 pm; and Thursday, June 12, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 pm. A celebration of Herman's life will be held on Friday, June 13, 2008, 11 a.m. at Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle, 565 Kenmount Road, St. John's. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
