PICTOU – John Daniel MacIsaac “John Dan”, 87, of Oak St., Pictou, died May 22, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Inverness, October 12, 1920, he was a son of the late Archie and Mary Jessie (MacDonald) MacIsaac. A Second World War veteran, he had worked for the Wartime Housing Commission in Pictou, and owned a trucking business. Prior to retirement he had been employed with Fina Oil. John Dan spent the summer months in Inverness, at his place in Glenville, where he loved to fish, play cards, and visit friends and relatives. He was also a competitive bowler, and was always ready for a good hockey game. He was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen (LeBlanc) MacIsaac; sisters, Jessie LeBlanc, and Georgina Landry; brother, Roddie MacIsaac; brother-in-law, Alfred LeBlanc; nephew, Charlie LeBlanc. Surviving are daughters: Donna (Ross) MacKenzie, Sharon (Ron) Riley, Deborah (Terry) Hosking; sons, Wayne MacIsaac and Erik (Kathy) MacIsaac; grandchildren: Natalie MacIsaac, Jessica (Cory) Brown, Archie (Lynn) MacIsaac; Matthew and Daniel Riley; Melinda and Jason MacKenzie; great-granddaughter, Ava Brown; and a wonderful lady, Jean Jamieson, who was his loving companion for many years. He is also survived by sister, Jemima (Frank) MacKay; brother, Colin (Juliette) MacIsaac; sister-in-law, Marie MacIsaac; brothers-in-law: Billy Landry, Edward and Leonard LeBlanc; daughter-in-law, Anne MacIsaac; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral Mass be held 11 a.m. Monday from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Father Bill Rankin officiating. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
