PAUL FRANCIS HARRIS
HARRIS, PAUL FRANCIS The death of Paul Francis Harris of the Veteran's Health Unit, and formerly of Boiestown, husband of the late Winifred (Sansom) Harris, occurred on Thursday, December 25, 2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Holtville on December 8, 1919, he was the son of the late William and Orlo (Brown) Harris. Paul was employed for many years with Ashley Colter Ltd., and was subsequently the Postmaster of Boiestown, a career which he loved, and from which he retired after 30 years of service. A Veteran of World War II, Paul served in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps with the 1st Battalion of the Saint John Fusiliers. He was a continuous member of the Royal Canadian Legion Normandy Branch # 78 for more than 50 years; a past member of the Upper Miramichi Board of Trade; a past board member of the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home; a retired Transportation Officer of the Boiestown Division of the St. John Ambulance; a charter director of the Central New Brunswick Woodsmen Museum; a member of St. Peter's Anglican Church; and was Boiestown's Citizen of the Year in 1984. Paul was also an avid fly fisherman and hunter, and was known to enjoy the odd dart game. He was dearly loved by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. He will be sadly missed. Paul is survived by his daughters, Ellen Astle (Weldon) of Newmarket, Ontario, and Ethel Elliot (David) of Red Deer, Alberta; brothers Harry Harris of Blackville and Keith Harris of Bloomfield Ridge; a sister, Ellen Dickison (Ian) of Doaktown; sisters-in-law Constance Harris (nee Parker) of Peterborough, Ontario, and Ethel Shaw (nee Sansom) of Moncton; grandchildren Jeffrey Astle (Renée LeFebvre), Paul Astle (Carol Judson), Jennifer Astle-Tranmer (Jeffrey), Matthew Elliot, and Susanne Elliot; great grandchildren Justin, Bayley, and Mitchell Tranmer; and by several nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by brothers William, Ralph, and Howard; a sister, Mildred Harris; and a sister-in-law, Delphine (Underhill) Harris. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, on Friday from 2-4 and 79 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM from the funeral home chapel. Rev. David Titus will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery, Boiestown. For those who wish, remembrances to the Veteran's Van Fund, the Woodsmen Museum, or St. Peter's Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family.
