
KENNETH MAJOR JONAH
JONAH, KENNETH MAJOR It is with sadness that Willa and Kenny announce the death of their father, Ken who died peacefully at the York Manor Nursing Home, on Sunday, December 28, 2003. He was a son of the late Alma (West) Jonah and Wilson Jonah. Born in Chipman, New Brunswick on January 10, 1916, he was a life long resident of Doaktown, NB where he worked as a carpenter for 44 years. He was a member of the Doaktown United Baptist Church where he was active in all church activities. Ken was a scout leader, Sunday School Superintendent, Youth Leader, and Deacon on the trustee board and caretaker. Ken was a founding member of the Atlantic Salmon Museum where he was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1998. He also served on the Planning Advisory Council for the Village of Doaktown and was a member of the Doaktown Miramichi Friendship Club. Ken was predeceased by his first wife, Vera Pauline (Crocker) (19151970) and his second wife Juanita (Kamermans) (1920-2003). The last of his immediate family, his sisters were: Winnifred Betts (David) and Georgina Morehouse and his brothers were: Charles Jonah (Marjorie) and Reginald Jonah (Peggy). He is survived by two daughters, Willa MacLean and her husband Ian of Fredericton and a special daughter, Paula Jonah of Campbellton, NB; and only son, Kenneth A. Jonah and daughter-in-law, JoAnn of Dipper Harbour, NB; brotherin-law, Weaver Morehouse of Central NB Nursing Home, Boiestown, NB; and sister-in-law, Ada Crocker of Doaktown; two step-daughters, Bonita Ellis of Newcastle and Linda Waye (Morrissey) of Newcastle; two step-sons, Gary Kamermans (Helen) of Bathurst and William Kamermans (Marie) of Dartmouth, NS. Ken was adored by his many grandchildren and great grand-children; several nieces and nephews. Resting at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB with visitation on Tuesday, December 30th from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at 11 am from the Doaktown United Baptist Church with Rev. Peter Sudesh Valji officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Doaktown United Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service are: Tommy Betts, Bill Charters, Lee Morehouse, Gerald Jonah, James Porter and Clarence Taylor. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, remembrances to Parkinson's Foundation or to the United Baptist Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family.
