MCCOY, BETTY JOAN The death of Betty Joan McCoy of Fredericton, wife of Donald M. McCoy, occurred on Friday, January 2, 2004 at her residence. Born in Woodstock, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Doris (DeLong) Mahar. Betty enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and making crafts, and also enjoyed watching television. In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by three sons, Donald C. McCoy (Cindy), Daniel McCoy, and Justin McCoy, all of Fredericton; brothers Robert Mahar, Charles Mahar (Kathy) and Edward Mahar (Carol Porter), all of Fredericton; sisters Marjorie Whitlock (Sonny) and Dorothy Barkhouse (Gerald), also of Fredericton; grandchildren Mindy, Jaden, Jessica, and Matthew; great grandchildren Brittney and Katelyn Munn; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Betty was predeceased by an infantson, Brian, in 1963. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, Brookside Drive at Douglas Avenue, Fredericton North, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel. Rev. Paul Thompson will officiate. Interment will take place in the Douglas Rural Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
