MURIEL "RED" MURPHY

MURPHY, MURIEL "RED" It is with great sadness and aching hearts we announce the death of our mother, Muriel "Red" Murphy (Demmings), wife of the late Robert "Bob" Murphy and daughter of the late Samuel and Daisy Demmings. Red died Monday, January 12, 2004 at the W.G. Bishop Nursing Home in Minto. Mom is survived, loved and greatly missed by her five children, Linda (Rene Murphy), Diane (Ron Dupuis), Barby (Wayne Brown), Jack (Yvonne Murphy) and Margo (Ronnie Vautour); her eight grandchildren and her seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Clayton Demmings (Connie), Lloyd Demmings (Thelma) both of Fredericton and sisters, Donna Duffy (Ron) of Moncton and Mary West (Keith) of Chipman. Red was predeceased by two infant children, Bobby and Susan and by her brother Corbett Fairweather. Mom graduated from Chipman High School and after returning home from the Army became a schoolteacher. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 12, Minto. Red loved playing bingo, shopping, spending time at the camp in Tracy and being with her family. She will be remembered for her red hair, adventurous spirit and the strong friendships formed over the years. Resting at the Minto Funeral Home (327-3490) where the family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2004 from the Parker Memorial Chapel of the Minto Funeral Home with Rev. John Cathcart officiating. Interment will take place in the Baptist Cemetery, Chipman at a later date. For those who wish, donations made to the Alzheimer's Society or the charity of ones choice would be appreciated by the family.
