SKALING, DANIEL GORDON The death of Daniel G. Skaling of Fredericton, NB occurred on January 27th , 2004 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Dan was the husband of Donna M. Leggatt. Born in Saint John he was the son of Charlotte (Gilliland) and the late Gordon Embert Skaling. Dan was the Chairman of Energie NB Power, the President of Kingsdale Atlantic and President of Venture Communications Inc. His public sector career spanned 20 years of service in both the provincial and federal government. Dan held a B. Comm. from Saint Mary's University and an M.A. (Economics) from the University of New Brunswick. He was actively involved in a number of charitable projects throughout the province. He also supported St. Thomas University and UNB in their respective development activities. Dan is survived by his wife Donna of Fredericton; he is predeceased by his father Gordon, and survived by his mother, Charlotte (née Gilliland) and her husband Wendall Hull of Silverwood, NB; his two children, Andrew (Moira) of Val-des-Monts, PQ and Jennifer Skaling of Springfield, PA; two brothers, Arthur (Lynda) of Fredericton, NB and Peter (Julie) of Nackawic, NB. Visitation will be held a McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Thursday, January 29th, 2004 from 2-4 pm. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday, January 30th, 2004 at 2:00 pm. The Very Rev. Keith Joyce will officiate.
