Jean Phyllis Chisholm

NEW GLASGOW – Jean Phyllis Chisholm, 255 Poplar St., New Glasgow, passed away peacefully Monday, January 26, 2009, at home in her 85th year after living with Parkinson’s Disease for 12 years. Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Daniel James “DJ” and Janet Agnes (Chisholm) Chisholm. Following a BSc HEc from Acadia, she completed Dietetic Internship at Ottawa Civic Hospital. She was a former director of Dietetics, Camp Hill Hospital, Halifax. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder. She was a life member of St. Andrew’s Elsie MacKay Auxiliary of the A.M.S.; a member of the Ladies Aid; and a former CGIT Leader. She was Past Regent of Dr. Caroline Carmichael Chapter IODE and a life member of the Provincial Chapter of N.S. She was PNG of Golden Link Rebekah Lodge #2. She was Past Matron of Century Chapter #10 Order of the Eastern Star and served on Grand Chapter Estarl Committee and was a Grand Representative of Vermont. Jean also served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary Paraplegic Association, NS Division, and worked with Meals on Wheels for many years. She is survived by several cousins, many friends and special friend, Doreen Bennett. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, with Rev. Richard Sand officiating. Burial will be in Church Brook Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
