May 9, 1911 – January 20, 2009 PICTOU – It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jessie on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at the age of 97 years in the Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou. Born in Pictou, she was a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Rudolph) Rogers. Jessie enjoyed a long career as a telephone operator and was a member of the Aliant Telephone Pioneers. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Doug; grandchildren: Cathie (Dave), Fraser (Cindy), Roger, John; great-grandchildren, Candace and Alexandra. Jessie was predeceased by her husband, Russell; brothers, Peter and Robert; daughter-in-law, Leona. Visitation will be held 1-3 p.m. Friday, followed by funeral service at 3 p.m. in the McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou, with Rev. Iona MacLean officiating. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, or the Lung Association. The family extends profound gratitude to the Maritime Odd Fellows Home and to her physician, Dr. R. Burrell.
