MACALPINE, DONALD NEVIN Donald N. MacAlpine, age 88, passed away peacefully, at home, in the company of his family on March 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Grace (Myers) MacAlpine and beloved father of Cindy Manderson (Robert), Heather MacAlpine and Valerie Matthews (David) and the dear grandfather of Elizabeth Manderson, Eric and Nathanial Bond, and Daniel and Victoria Matthews. He was the dear brother of Vivian Leckey and Eldred Murray. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by infant daughter Helen, sister Phyllis Thorne, and three brothers-in-law; Walter Thorne, Norman Leckey and Robin Murray. A farmer all his life, he brightened our lives with his love of family, friends, neighbours, music and his wonderful stories of the past. He was a good listener and he had a passion for woodworking. He attended the Jemseg Baptist Church. Resting at Sherwood's Funeral Home, 18 Scovil Road, Norton (8392156) with no visitation by request. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. from Sherwood's Chapel. A reception will follow, with interment in Upper Hampstead Cemetery following the reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial to the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated.
