ELORA, Ontario – John George Clarke Jr., (formerly of Guelph, Ont. and Stellarton, Nova Scotia) passed away peacefully on May 18, 2008, at Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home, Elora, Ontario, in his 94th year. Beloved husband of the late Winifred Saunders (1997). Loved and adored by daughter, Patricia Crumback (Gary) and son, John “Joffie”. Beloved grandfather to Cathy Crumback (Mike), Paul Crumback (Deanna) and Lauren Clarke; great-grandpa to David Crumback. An avid and successful baseball player, John and his Stellarton Monarchs teammates were inducted to the Nova Scotia Sport Heritage Centre's Hall of Fame in 1989. He also played with the Guelph C-Joys and Royals as well as the Galt Terriers during his years in Guelph. Service will take place at Brookside Cemetery, Stellarton, on Wednesday, July 23, at 12 Noon. Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society of Guelph-Wellington or the Guelph Humane Society would be appreciated.
